Got my t-mobile cell spot today, managed to flash dd-wrt on it as well.

The process didn't go that smoothly, but it worked eventually.

Here's a short tut:

1. Download the asus a68u firmware file from ddwrt's site.

2. I had trouble connecting to the router when in FW restore mode until i changed the routers IP to 192.168.1.1/24 from 192.168.29.1/24. Im not sure if this is absolutely necessary but its what i did. You can change the IP using the config at 192.168.29.1.

3. Whether you change the routers IP or not, you will have to set your computers IP manually. Use 192.168.1.2 if you changed the routers IP, and 192.168.29.2 if you didnt. Both use a subnet of 255.255.255.0, which is strange because the stock IP isnt on this subnet (windows will show an error for this). This might be why i had trouble flashing it.

4. Enter restore mode: Pull the power to the router, hold the reset button, plug the router back in (while still holding reset), release the reset button when the power light starts blinking.

5. Once you're in restore mode, and your computer & router ip configurations are set up correctly, go to to the address of what was the configuration page. You should see the asus fw restore page.

6. Upload your ddwrt firmware file and wait until youre sure everything is done (give it 10 minutes)

7. Set your ip configuration back to DHCP, then go to 192.168.1.1. Enjoy your new dd-wrt router!

Other resources will tell you to use the asus fw restoration tool, but this didnt work for me (many many attempts). Id just use the web fw uploader, its easier.
