G+_Terry Henderson
Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ I Stole Your Pic Off Twitter !! I Have 1 Question, How Would You Ever Troubleshoot For A Broken Patch Cable ??????
G+_Travis Hershberger
You see all those white labels, you really hope the installers got it all right!
G+_Dennis Tenn (???)
I've done this before for cables and fibre and all of them should have been labelled and tested prior to any install. Nicely done. +
G+_Travis Hershberger
Dennis Tenn Yep, should have been. How many times have you actually walked into a place and found everything nice, neatly labeled, and correct? If I ever do, I'm getting myself a job there! G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
If you look closely, each coax cable is labeled.
G+_T Nohands
Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ probably could get Fluke to send him a network tester to borrow that can hunt, diagnose, and pinpoint any problem even exactly where a kinked wire or cable is. Then again Fluke might have hear what Padre considers as loaning and borrowing. Even he admits that it takes around 3 requests for a product he likes to be sent back. I imagine Padre would love one of the latest One Touch or XG Tablets each with the True View dedicated and virtural software bundle kits for a review I'd imagen it would be a very thorough and lengthy reviews never the less using one of those tools would be how he would do a full check for problems on a system like that. However for the full bundle and Fluke support, you could definitely get a new car maybe even a small house. That's probably one of the better solutions for IT support troubleshooting since those things can map out both hardware and virtual systems down to a crossed miswirring within a single ethernet cable over the entirse system or would you go another way Fr. G+_Dennis Tenn (???)
I'm almost sure that Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ has a database created mapping out where what cable goes where. Enter the cable label info and voila, he knows where it's Z point is, assuming that what we are seeing is the A-point.

G+_kevin F.
Ahah! I thought that's what it was and yes it is "A beautiful thing." The guys that did this stuff where I last worked purposely tangled up their leads, didn't label anything and spoke in a code that baffled and confused their bosses and anyone else was around them. Once I asked one of the guys, "If need be, how would you even begin troubleshoot a ball of wire that seemed to go everywhere and nowhere at the same time." He tapped an index finger on his temple, winked and said, "Don't you worry, it's all up here!" I guess they thought that this technique gave them job security or something. G+_Storm Mcleod
that is so sexy! Anyways Letter# naming convention on each wire at each end works, even perm marker works alright. line testing before you zip tie the bundles. Oh yeah leave some extra length hidden somewhere in case a re-crimping job is needed. Follow this wiring closets should be good to go. yay! for patch panels!
