G+_David Adams
I love how just a press release from Google Fiber saying they were intending to build out in Salisbury and Raleigh-Durham was enough to kick TWC in the backside and force them to build up their service. That doesn't mean I don't have a beef with it, though- I got a letter saying that they'll offer digital TV adapters for a fee, which contradicts the press release. And to think, one town just up the road is offering 50Mbps (symmetric) internet through their municipal ISP for $45/mo and offer speeds up to 1Gbps. The reason they can't come over? It's illegal to build up or expand a high-speed ISP in North Carolina unless it'll make a profit in the very first year of operation. ...yeah. While it's not a de writ ban on municipal ISPs, it certainly is a de facto ban.
