Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ  I just ordered a Da Vinci 1.1 PLus. I was wondering what you know about resetting the cartridges if anything on this particular mode. I have only see 2 forum posts about it. I've been reading up on how to do it.  I ordered aa Arduino Uno to give it a shot. I am wondering if i should return it and get the Da Vinci 1.0 (maybe the AIO) and use the custom firmware. Any thoughts? I am limited to best buy btw because I am using all my reward zone points so kinda stinks but its a free 3d printer....I am just not feeling the DRM filament. So been looking at ways to circumvent that.

Yeah its a bit outside my price range. I got 45 days to try it out. I have some leads on how to hack the cartrsige system and get more controll.....I think i may return it and save for a PrintrBot Simple

If I remember from that episode, Padre mentioned the filament used NFC. NFC tags store a small amount of data and if Padre was able to hack it I'd assume he just used a NFC reader/writer app on Android. Maybe copy the data on the cartridge before it's inserted/used, then write it back as "full" once it's reloaded.

 

I don't have a 3D printer so this is obviously just a guess, but the first thing I would definitely try is reading the tag to see what's on it.

All I can say is RUN! I had a Davinci 2.0 and it was useless. Great for making junk. If you need any precision out of your printer I would get a different one. I went with it for the price but I can tell you I would pay 5 times more just for less headaches than I had with that thing.

On this one it's even easier to reset. I have a little ardunio board that can change bed and extruded temp. Just wonder if it's goning to be a pita. I can return it for a gift card if I have to. Then sell the bestbuy gift card. After that I will sell the gift card so I can Get a printrbot. That seems to be the way to go.

I have the davinci 1.0. Less than two months old. It won't read the cartridges. I just bought a new cartridge and the printer won't read it. I contacted xyz and they responded in a day, asking for serial numbers and a copy of my invoice. I got them all the information. That was Tuesday and I haven't heard back. Not really happy with their customer service.

Well the davinci 1.1 lasted a day. The Extrude arms were crooked for starters and it couldn't make circles...PrintrBot is in the hizzle and its amazing!

They were supposed to have the tech support call me yesterday. No call. Really thinking about flashing the firmware and being done with xyz.
