G+_Daniel N
Need help with the following please. I have a Radio Transceiver that's connected to my Panasonic ToughPad via the usb port. I would like to find a way to change this connection to be via bluetooth. My thought was to connect the Radio Transceiver to a RasPi which will transmit via bluetooth to the ToughPad. Hope this make sense. I've included a picture to illustrate this. Cheers Daniel
G+_Golden Retriever
Does the radio transceiver have internal batteries or is it drawing its power from the touchpad
G+_Daniel N
Hi Tod its drawing power from the USB - so will have to "split" the usb cable for the power and the RxTx
G+_Golden Retriever
I think your idea of a pi or some other micro computer is probably best then that way there is somthing with enough juice to power the transceiver and have Bluetooth or wi-fi for connectivity to the tablet, the only real stumbling block I see is a driver for a non-standard OS to control the USB connection. G+_John Sullivan
It would help us to help you if we could know why you want to change from a USB connection to a Bluetooth connection. Bluetooth has its own idiosyncrasies, so it would seem that you are adding more complexity than needed. If you need more USB ports, would not something like a USB hub be simpler, or is there more to the problem?
G+_Daniel N
John Sullivan Thanks for the reply. OK I will try to explain it as best I can. I'm a Land surveyor and use the tablet with the radio plugged in to communicate with the Instrument I use. So with the radio plugged in the usb it gets "bumped" and "hooked" quite a bit as its sticks out on the side of the tablet (see photo below). I Already had to get the usb port fixed once. So I'm looking for a way to minimise wires coming out of the tablet. Hope this makes sense >
