G+_John Mink
Do you Know-it-alls know of any software that takes a desktop (with decent speakers) and generates active noise cancelation? I'm asking cause I have some fans running 24/7 in my apartment (Yay water damage? ) and I'd like to try and cancel the white noise. (unplugging them isn't an option)
G+_Jake Sunsted
I only know http://simplynoise.com/ , is that sufficient?
G+_John Mink
No, the problem is I already have a ridiculuos amount of white noise. I need something that can make it quieter. And maybe this isn't feasible?
G+_John Mink
Carson Penticuff the entire room, or at least other rooms. Not sure if it would be easier to put the speakers in a doorway between rooms & cancel everything that passes or try to cancel in a single room. G+_Bram Moerman
I use Bose noise canceling headphones to reduce the white notice inside commercial aircraft. I suspect, though, that your looking for a non $$$ solution. But, having been through the water damage deal, for me I only had to put up with it for a couple of days. G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
That would be kludge at best. The reason why noise-cancellation units work is because they can cancel a combined waveform right before it hits your ears. Within a room you would have a nearly infinite number of waveforms to cancel as you move through the space.
G+_John Mink
mmk, I was hoping the doorway trick would work....but clearly I was being way too optimistic >_< oh well.
