G+_Benjamin Webb
H264 distributed encoding question here. I tend to use handbrake high quality settings and am very pleased with the results but was wondering if there is anyway to split precessing one video to multiple computers. I have an i7 sandy, a 6 core AMD, and an older Phenom II, as well as a Haswell rocking freenas with the rest linux. Would be nice to get above 20 fps with same quality and size. 3-5 hours is a long encode. Have tried media encoding cluster and gearman with handbrake with disappointing results. I am not above building a beowolf cluster. lol
G+_Jeff Brand
Are you looking for a project that uses your various hardware, or are you more interested in solving the problem for high volume transcoding? If the latter, take a look at AWS Elastic Transcoder. Otherwise, take a look at this: http://blog.dustinkirkland.com/2014/07/scalable-parallel-video-transcoding-on.html
