G+_Benjamin Webb
Father said on the last show a pfsense rig would cost $500. Here is a wireless access point with gentoo for $200 http://pisarenko.net/blog/2015/02/01/beginners-guide-to-802-dot-11ac-setup/ I was thinking of doing something similar with a ASRock Micro ATX DDR3 1066 NA Motherboard N3050M and Sienoc Mini PCI-E to PCI-E Wireless Adapter w/ 3 Antenna. I have read that there is a chance the bios may crash the wireless card. Ath10K cards are to my knowledge the only cards that can do a AC access point in linux with all the features. Problem is they are currently only available in commercial wireless radios that don't always play nice with bios. That motherboard would have a TDP of 6W at full load as well so not exactly a power hog if it works. You would need two radios in order to dual band FYI. You could turn it into a router by adding a NIC or two but I am not good enough to set up something like that. http://pisarenko.net/blog/2015/02/01/beginners-guide-to-802-dot-11ac-setup
