G+_Mr ROKnBOK
Are there any good alternatives to Pogoplug? I've been in PogoPlug user for several years (to serve my media files to my HTPC in my network and to my phone when I am off my network) but the company seems to have shuttered their doors (although the website is still up). I'm looking for a device to replace the PogoPlug. The following is what I loved about PP and am hoping to find an alternative to replicate: - connect extra storage via USB (preferably USB3) - access connected drives via PCs connected to the LAN (preferably mapped to a single drive letter) - access files via iPhone through the internet (WAN) with the ability to upload/download files. Does anyone know of a good alternative to Pogoplug that might fit these requirements?
G+_Brian Moses
I've been a using tonido plug for several years. They don't sell the plug servers now but you can set up the sever software on Raspberry Pi, Mac, Windows and Linux. They provide the Tonido App for Iphone and Android and even Blackberry for accessing the server. Works pretty slick. twit.tv - FLOSS Weekly 153 TonidoPlug | TWiT.TV
G+_David Wiggins
It's the plug the device that allows for of network access? How well does it play with existing NAS devices? Does it mount the share, or use a plugin on the NAS?
G+_Brian Moses
Connects to drive(s) via usb then that drive(s) can be mounted to network share. Great use for Raspberry Pi http://www.tonido.com/tonidodesktop_downloads/#desktop en.wikipedia.org - SheevaPlug - Wikipedia

G+_Ben Reese
I've been using OwnCloud in a VM for the last several months, but it can run on the Pi too. Decent web interface, decent apps. Webdav support lets you map the drive in Windows (though not real snappy in that use) or mount in kodi. Many other 3rd party apps support it as well. G+_William Burlingame
When my PogpPlug died, I setup a Raspberry Pi 2 as a JBOD NAS. I mainly use it for backup and don't have an urgent need to access it remotely, but I have considered OwnCloud and Tonido for remote access. I have two 2TB drives, two 4TB drives and a 5TB drive connected to the Pi via a powered hub. It's been working great. I have two Win 10 desktops, an HTPC and a laptop that I sync regularly with the NAS. I have a collection of movies I've DVR'd on my HTPC and a DVD collection I've ripped. The videos use up a lot of storage. I keep my NAS in the basement where it's cool and out of sight from my other computers.
G+_Mr ROKnBOK
Thanks, all. Looks like I might be purchasing another RasPi. I'm also researching the possibility of repurposing the PogoPlug (v2 and v4), but I think the Pi might be the way I go.
