So, the screen on my 2012 nexus 7 just cracked (after accidentally dropping my nexus 4 right on top of it). Now there are some dead spots in the screen. I was already bummed about the decrease in performance after the lollipop update, but I was willing to live with it. But now it's near impossible to use. I loved the 7 inch form factor and low price tag, not to mention pure Android. Any good suggestions for a replacement?

I am getting ready to attempt to replace the screen on a N7 (2012) for a friend. They can't afford to get something new so they're willing to take the $50 gamble that things will turn out well. It should be a fun thing to do.

I've found that since I have my Note 3 and Chromebook, I never use a tablet any longer.  I think larger phones have killed the market.  How about just getting a Nexus 6?
