G+_Krispin Chairet
I am planning on canceling our DirecTV subscription in August. We can now get HBO without a cable or satellite TV provider subscription. Also, ESPN is available on Sling.com. CBS is also available for over the Internet subscription. However, I will NEED over the air reception in order to watch my Seahawks when they are on NBC or Fox. I live outside a rural town in Oregon. I need to invest in a good antenna. Does anyone have any recommendations? I found this website http://www.homeantenna.org/?gclid=CLXmueG1gcYCFQKTfgodMokAtg
G+_Stephen Rusboldt
Most of the antennas on that web site have built-in amplifiers. Be careful. An amplifier should only be used to compensate for losses from cable and splitters between the antenna and the TV receiver. Refer to http://www.tvfool.com That sight will tell you how much gain your antenna needs. I have not found a good web site that lists the gain (at each channel) of many antennas. There are a couple of paragraphs that discuss the use of amplifiers on this web page http://www.tvfool.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=57 It states: "Be aware that amps and pre-amps will actually cause you to lower your Noise Margin. No matter how much gain an amp or pre-amp claims, it will actually reduce your Noise Margin"
