G+_Leandro Prell
Watching Networking 101 and learning a lot! About uPnP I understand it should be turned off so we can port forward as needed. So far so good, but let's assume I have both Xbox and PS4 on my network and both need to open port 80 for example. Can I just forward the same port to different devices? If not, how can I achieve this? Moreover what is the impact in disabling uPnP if I do streaming, torrenting, Skype, etc on my network? Sorry for the newbie questions and for my bad English! G+_Travis Hershberger
Of course you can. The thing with both Xbox and PS4 is that every game needs different ports open. Which is where a separate VLAN or the 3 dumb router comes in very handy. You're able to leave upnp enabled and still have another secured network segment. G+_Ben Tyger
Also some routers allow per source IP enabling of uPnP. I know pfSense is one of them. This should only be done for trusted source IPs. That way you set up your Xbox/PS4/etc. with a dhcp IP reservation so it is always the same IP. Then configure the router to allow that source IP to use uPnP.
