G+_Mr Bill
Finishing up my first 250 build. I used an emax nighthawk frame with emax 1806 motors and emax 12 amp ESCs. Everything is working, she flies (as well as her pilot can manage)... but I am noticing an extremely high pitched squeal. It really makes you question whether your head is about to explode. It seems far higher pitched and louder than normal motor whine. My attempts to research causes led to a single article about ESC Control Frequency (I can choose between 8KHz and 22KHz on these ESCs). I'm reaching the bottom of my bucket of knowledge and frankly, am not sure what that changes/means. Anyone have any hints, clues to try and knock out the squeal? G+_610GARAGE
Since you are hearing a squeal, I would wager bad bearing over noise from magnetic fields. I would suggest you run only one motor at a time to see if it is just one motor. If it is, turn the prop to see if there is unusual resistance, or better yet, just replace that motor. G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
Are you hearing it ALWAYS, or only at speed?
G+_Mr Bill
It was pretty much all the time but with varying intensity. That said I made two changes to the ESCs and the squeal is gone. 1) changed the Advanced Timing to Very High ( did not fix it alone ) 2) changed the control frequency to 22KHz from 8KHz I suspect I could back out the first change. I will probably try this weekend. Thanks everyone.
G+_Taylor Graham
Are you loving that nighthawk frame though? That esc mounting area... and the price. It's the most delicious 250 frame.
