Looks like it's new phone time for me....since i'm "stuck" on VZW, looks like I have a pretty limited option (see below) any AAA advice?

Does Verizon have anything besides the Note 2 & S4 that are worth looking at? Maybe the DNA (or maybe not)?

edit:

Kevin Spitzer thanks for mentioning price, I should prolley mention that I hafta buy off contract...so I get to pay Leo prices for this new phone >_<

Kevin Spitzer Is the no moto because of the crapware they put on it or the "Google will make things better"?

Also, the Droid DNA, while a "droid" is actually HTC  (dunno if that helps or hurts).

I keep hearing the S3, but i'd need to find some good comparisons with the S3 vs S4 to see what i'd be missing...

Motorola is not up to date. Their processors, memory, Android version, is out of date. You can't change or replace the batteries easily. You can't add SD card memory.

The Droid DNA (HTC) can't change or replace battery easily. You can't add SD card memory. The battery life sucks.

The only reason at this point in time I would go for Galaxy S3 is for the low price.

Galaxy Note 2 is the largest device you can get from VZW. The easily removable battery is the largest capacity battery. The battery life is very long. The spen is fun to use when I do use it. This is what I have and loving it.

But otherwise for the same price with VZW you can get Galaxy S4. Galaxy S4 is a little smaller, no spen and less battery capacity. But otherwise Galaxy S4 has everything else that Galaxy Note 2 has and more. For VZW Galaxy S4 is the best by far. ?

Get a used 32GB Galaxy Nexus and a spare battery and bask in the HOLO (nearly up to date) Nexusness. But seriously it's still a great phone imho and if you are at all interested in trying out custom ROMs it's great. Best value you can get for the money imo plus it's the phone used by 2/3 of our AAA hosts! My only complaint is the camera

What phone are you coming from, what's most important to you in a smartphone and how much can you spend??

Nick Webster that is sad, I have an almost mythic ability to kill phone batteries >_>

Andrew Carvalho & Charlie Walker hmmm, the Nexus doesn't sound like a terrible idea... also worth mentioning, this isn't a game of "wait out my contract" it's more of a "I'm keeping my unlimited data so VZW wants ALL the monies from me"

I haven't really listed out what I need but I don't think can have enough power in a smartphone, 4G & NFC would be fun to have, i'd certainly prefer nexus but there's always options for rooting so...

Oh, and something with decent screen-size (more than the current 4-4.5") I suppose the screen quality is important too, i'm not videophile & I suspect your eyes adapt to basically anything screen-wise but I'd (of course) prefer a good screen.

Camera brings up a good point, because i'm honestly not sure how important that is now that I have a Galaxy Camera.

I say I don't think I can have a powerful enough phone because 1) I do certainly game on the phone but more importantly 2) my "regular usage" includes at least dozen (maybe closer to 20) widgets across my home screens & half a dozen apps constantly running...so there's ALOT going on >_>

tbh if I could have any other VZW phone it would be a Note 2. The Galaxy 3/4 and Note 2 all have nice chips (CPUs and GPUs) and are good for gaming. The GNex is no slouch, but it does struggle a bit with games like NFS: Most Wanted - but performs well enough as I'm overclocking. I think if you could find a reasonably priced G3 or Note 2 you'd be quite happy.

If you can pay full retail for a new flagship rumors are the good things are coming to VZW soon from HTC and LG. (a little Panda told me)

You can buy Nexus 4 at the Google Play Store.

Then check out ATT and T-Mobile. T-Mobile Unlimited 4G/LTE, text and talk for $70 before tax and fees. But ATT has very good coverage that even VZW and T-Mobile doesn't have. T-Mobile does use ATT towers in some areas. But not with the higher speeds. But I notice that ATT is not fast in those same areas for their own customers either. Based that info with experiences in West Marin area (the worst area for all cellular services period). ?
