G+_John Mink
So, I know AAA has reviewed enough weather apps to make it a running gag (up there with alarm clocks) but is there a good lightweight one that throws a notification if there's a severe weather alert (something like a tornado/flash-flood/hurricane WARNING/WATCH) The only thing i've found so far is AccuWeather, and it's a bit too bloated for my tastes.... G+_Lucas Nichols
On my note 2 I have emergency alerts enabled. I get severe weather alerts, and amber alerts too. Also I use weather bug. It has notifications like what u want. ?
G+_Joseph Cappellino
Google Now supports this. Go into the settings, and enable Public Alerts.
G+_Richard Cohen
I wrote an app which does exactly that... As long as you're in Hong Kong :) We've got a thunderstorm warning and an amber rain warning (it goes amber, red, black) right now!
G+_John Mink
Richard Cohen i'm only about 8200 miles away ;) Apart from that, sounds pretty cool. Although it's going to be tricky if you're competing with Google Now (as Joseph Cappellino says)
G+_James Fridley
The weather app I use "Pocket Weather" does this and much more. Though... it is for Australia... :-) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=au.com.shiftyjelly.android.pocketweatherau&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImF1LmNvbS5zaGlmdHlqZWxseS5hbmRyb2lkLnBvY2tldHdlYXRoZXJhdSJd
G+_Wesley Mosier
John Mink I use WeatherBug. Also, AutomateIt can set up custom alerts for weather now.
G+_Ann Adams
WeatherBug is the best one IMO, in addition to the emergency alert system. WB has good notification, tap on the alert and you can read the text information. They also have a very nice radar page.
G+_Santos Cardona
1wwather does this. Great widget https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.handmark.expressweather.
G+_Santos Cardona
Joseph Cappellino I don't see a setting to turn on/off public alerts.
