Just ordered  the OBi100 VoIP Telephone Adapter to experiment with in order to evaluate for family.  I'll use with my Google Voice number.

It's supposed to come from Amazon Monday.  I'll give my thoughts on it once I've used it a bit.  Not personally a big talker myself but it will come in handy with the automated phone true that I have.

I set  up a 100 a couple of weeks ago.  I haven't dropped my land line, but use it as a second line.  I seems to be working quite well.

Just got it up and running.  There was a problem getting the phone to ring but Obi's trouble shooting walked me through the solution.

I set my dad up with an obihai about five months ago in order to get rid of the landline bill. He's found it works well through Google voice, but a couple times he's noticed that the line is dead so he just needs to restart the obi. This could also be due to the complex system it's running through though. He doesn't pay for home Internet either so I set up a free freedompop wifi hot spot, and then a router running ddwrt acts as a wifi receiver and converts the connection to ethernet so the obihai can be connected. Let me know if anyone has questions about the setup. It was a fun project and has worked amazingly well, plus he barely uses a landline so it seemed silly before this to be paying for it.

bryant thompson I'm not sure if Google voice can be used for Skype or not. I think the obihai would probably be okay with it though. I'm mostly guessing here though.
