G+_Michael Rawson
Finally finished my quad at last! Very excited to start flying it properly. Question for fellow UK flyers though. Have you joined the BMFA? My local park has an area for RC and all club members are required to be members of the BMFA. However from watching them I think I'd be the only quadcopter owner there if I joined. Any thoughts on pros or cons? https://www.bmfa.org/
G+_Eddie Foy
Join!!!! Since they are not quaders, you stand to learn from the elders! (in the HAM radio arena we call them Elmers) You can gain a ton of knowledge and maybe get a few to try to quads. (but don't push it; best to show your enjoyment over 'look how cool this is') Worse case scenario, you lost a few pounds on dues. Oh. sorry I'm not UK flyer, but the statement still holds true. G+_Michael Heinz
Michael, I'm faced with the same question over here in the states - should I join the AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics) or not? I think I've decided that it's a good idea - both to get access to flying areas and to learn from others. In addition, given the mounting paranoia that people have over "drones", joining an organization can help you show people that you're not some creepy stalker/hacker dude. G+_Michael Heinz
Wayne Hobbins - my problem is every time I join a club, I end up with a job title and all the work that goes with it!
