G+_Nicholas Mattis
Hey KIAs, I decided to build a 250 quad and I'm having trouble deciding what r/c controller to get. My goal is to get a controller that will last me through many builds, I plan on doing some with GPS and gimbals, etc and I would like a controller that can support most of this. Any suggestions are very much appreciated! Thanks!
G+_Eddie Foy
Yes, its a can of worms at the bottom of a rabbit hole. GPS is separate. Gimbals etc. matter. Count the number of axis/channels you need to control now, then almost double. 4-6 does a quad, 10+ does all the bells and whistles and gizmos. One footnote: I bought a Futaba 10 channel, but doesn't seem to transition to a car/rover/ground based vehicle ,which is my current focus. But I might be missing something. G+_Jeff Brand
Eddie Foy curious to know how the RC car transition works out. I bought a FlySky 3 channel car controller but haven't done anything with the third channel. I believe I could bind the RX to my quad's TX if I really wanted to tinker. I was also thinking of using the car controller as a second operator's gimbal control.
G+_Larry Havenstein
I will say I love my Flyski i10. I know FR Robert has the Flyski Taranus. Key is even if you don't need it spring for extra channels as since the recievers are cheap now you can have several of those but you really only need one transmitter. I love how we can do so much in the transmitters now.
G+_Jeff Brand
Larry Havenstein - just wanted to call attention to the difference between the two manufacturers: FrSky (maker of the Taranis) and FlySky (maker of the i10, T6, i6 and other cheaper but solid transmitters.) G+_Larry Havenstein
I knew the difference but my fingers didn't. I used to use Futaba and my i10 blows away the last Futaba I had in fit, finish, and function. My 6 channel Futaba cost twice as much as I spent on the i10.
