G+_Cass Morrison
I thing 2 things are happening, redistribution of users due to the large number of OEMS which also drive the prices down through competition. I don't think android is going anywhere soon. The lollipop/material design thing makes it even more attractive. I would like to see business that use windows 8 embrace the phone and tablet instead of iphone/ipad. Just for better consistency.
G+_Paul Fidalgo
So what has to happen? Some manufacturers have to get out of the game?
G+_Cass Morrison
Or merge. Think of computers, after a point you didn't need to upgrade because there wasn't noticeable difference. We're running a 8 yr old laptop and 6 year old desktop. We jumped everything from Vista to Win 8.1 no problem. The only reason I have a newer all in one is because the laptop keyboard broke (and ended up being just $35 from Dell and easy to replace at home darn it). I only use the all in one for my MOOC, hangouts and some banking (that's just easier). Now I use my Tab S most of the time and carry my phone. Next round may be a Note or a data enabled tablet with no phone.
G+_Paul Fidalgo
You know what I think it is? Apple customers are wealthier and upgrade at each feasible opportunity, and Apple's profit margins are huge. Android customers are either normals who don't know any better and but whatever's cheap, and geeks like us who buy the flagships. We are the minority and probably don't make up for the low end. G+_Cass Morrison
There's that too?? so there will always be more Android devices out there. I have to admit I just upgraded us to Z3 Compacts, not the highest end phones. Not as nice as my S4 sadly.
G+_Paul Fidalgo
I wondered if that would seem like a downgrade, given the lesser resolution.
G+_Cass Morrison
Not the resolution, the weight and hand feel. Plus I feel like there's a lot of wasted space on the screen by not having the buttons on the chin like I'm used to.
G+_Paul Fidalgo
Hmm. I thought the Z3 was supposed to feel kind of premium. Interesting that it doesn't.
G+_Cass Morrison
It's the compact and the heaviness of the glass makes it heavy to me not premium.
G+_Paul Fidalgo
Now I'm not sure about my theory. I mean, Motorola makes 3 phones admittedly, but they're rather distinct. Or are they? Sony, also, I think only makes its Xperia flagships, right? It's Samsung and LG and HTC that make a bunch of models. I dunno.
G+_Cass Morrison
Right the Xperia Z3 is the flagship, the Z3 C is a smaller screen version.
