G+_Rian Spivak
So after Google I/O failed to produce a replacement to the Nexus 10, I have a decision to make as far as to what tablet I am going to purchase some my Motorola Xoom is a bit pokey now. I think I've got it narrowed down to three tablets. I am driving with the ten inch class of tablets because I like the screen real estate for watching video. The tablets are the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition, Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5, and the Sony Xperia Z2 tablet. I'm having trouble narrowing it down further. I'm a little concerned about the performance of the Samsung tablets since there have been grumbling about the processor in these tablets causing strange hesitations randomly most likely due to the switch between the two quad core parts of the octa chip. I also don't know about the note because I'm not entirely convinced I'll use the pen functionality. I like the Z2, but nowhere near me seems to have it in stock including Amazon and I would really would like to see it in person before I choose that one. So does anyone have any opinions on those tablets or have a suggestion on another tablet I should wait for or consider?
G+_Joe Phelps
I bet the hesitations you're referring to are caused by Touchwiz. That would keep me from buying a Samsung product.
G+_Cass Morrison
Unless you know you'll use the pen don't bother with the Note 2014. I'm getting the Tab S because I like AMOLED a developer the focus on readability it strong lighting. ?Unless you're in a rush I would wait to hold the Sony then make a decision. G+_Rian Spivak
Joe Phelps I did have concerns about that too, that's why I was hoping to have a follow up Nexus 10 to use with stock Android. But it looks like it's going to be a while before there is a ten inch tablet that is stock Android and my Moto Xoom isn't going to hold together much longer. With it rooted and ROM'd, it helped, but it's just a downward spiral until it can't run anything.
G+_Lauren Glenn
I bought an ASUS PadFone X and absolutely love it. Nothing like switching between phone and tablet with just one device. Root it fairly easily and you get all functions, SD card write, plus having just one plan for two devices. Dial down the CPU and you get extended battery life (after root, of course)..... Can't tell you how to root it, but let's just say, "don't forget to bring a towel. The first version of it."
G+_matthew webb
I'd recommend the tab s, I'm sure it will get cyanogen mod in no time or another stock android based rom...
