G+_L I
Always been Google's problem. Everything in beta until they figure out if it can work. Then it's either bolstered or phased out. G+_Joseph Cappellino
Chris Pick have you tried Wake Lock Detector? No root, but developer mode must be enabled. It helped me find rogue apps that were constantly keeping the device awake.

G+_Marlon Thompson
Google is a software company that is transitioning parts of it to a hardware company, not making excuses but I expected this. It's also important to note the areas where Google is getting better. I was able to order my pixel and get it much sooner and with a much better experience than my Nexus 6. Many of us have those scared memories of the website crashing, your order disappearing from your cart and not really knowing when the phone would be in stock. Support has improved tremendously I remember a time when you had no idea who it where to contact to get the answer to simple support questions to having a problem resolved on Thanksgiving day by a cheerful Googler called Mark. They have to get better yes but we shouldn't ignore the fact that they already have been.
