G+_Marlon Thompson
I am seeing rumors all day about the next HTC phone and then I read this story of one reaching its end of life on Bell Canada. Note that one of the other phones that also just reached its EOL on that carrier is the Galaxy S3, a phone that came out a year before the HTC one. Is barely a year acceptable for support for a flagship phone, or is just a reflection of the state HTC is in? G+_Phil Osoweed
Lorri Helms if your looking for longevity, honestly you should install a custom recovery which would allow you to install custom ROMs like Cyanogenmod. My son is sporting a Samsung Fascinate running kit kat 4.4.2. Phone is far from EOL.
G+_Marlon Thompson
Phil Osoweed while us geeks can install a custom rom, it still is a very small percentage of Android users and to be honest the HTC one was a flagship phone, shouldn't the general consumer expect that it would be at least supported for 18 months.? G+_Phil Osoweed
Marlon Thompson by all means you are correct on both accounts. I was just offering an alternative to spending hundreds of dollars more often because of a companies greed for more devices sold. It is a damn shame one cannot get two years support on a phone most people sign a two year contract for. Greed is what it amounts to.
