I have been reading a lot of varying reviews but as I had predicted the hype is hurting the reception of the watch. We put the Moto 360 on too high a pedestal (well not me because my Gear live is working fine, no cracks, almost 2 day battery life no strange reconnects) and now everyone is lining up to take it down.

Ouch. Ron Amadeo's verdict is damning. This is still gen one, no matter what anyone says.

The Bad

- Terrible performance. The decision to go with an ancient TI OMAP3 instead of a more modern Snapdragon 400 makes the device slow and stuttery.

- Terrible battery life. That TI chip also sucks down a lot of power. Expect to charge it 2-3 times per day.

- The Bluetooth phone-to-watch connection is unstable and loses connection randomly. Every Android Wear device we've tested does this.

- The leather strap looks and feels cheap. It's way better than other - smartwatches, but that's a very low bar.

The Ugly

- The crushing disappointment after six months of hype.

It's interesting. Before it hit the streets, all anyone had to go on was "it's prettier therefore I want it." Now with the battery reports, people are realizing that looks aren't the whole story. But let's face it. A watch is about fashion as much as it is about function. If either of those is lacking, appeal is limited and satisfaction will suffer.
