How long do you want your smartphone battery to last?

I ask this question because I saw a popular developer report that he found the Nexus 6 battery life abysmal and then he went on to say for his usage patterns. Now my Nexus 6, for my usage pattern has been giving me all day battery life (18-24 hrs) and on the  weekend when I am mostly home I can easily get 30-36 hours. But in reality during the workweek I just want my phone to last me from the time I leave my house in the morning to the time I got back home in the evening and my Nexus 6 gives me that. My Nexus 5 would need a charge around lunchtime mainly because I was not on wifi all day and where I work the cell signal fluctuates a lot and that kills your phone as it keeps searching for a good signal (the Nexus 6 seems to have better radios or Motorola has done some magic under the hood).

So here what I propose to reviewers, when you talk about battery life, give me what your average day is like and then tell me how much battery life you get. If my day is similar to yours then I can gauge if that is the phone for me.

My OnePlus One is the first phone I've bought where I don't have to worry about what my usage patterns are. I still consciously keep the brightness down where possible but I can go from morning until 9pm-ish without recharging. That's a win for me. I can imagine this is how the pre-qHD Motorola *-Maxx phones were.

Agreed. Morning to bedtime is all you need. I was constantly charging my SIII, including a full charge at 5pm just to make it through the evening. Since I got the Droid Turbo I am loving life though. I NEVER need to be concerned about battery. It'll last from 7am to 2am without worry, and if I forget it'll still have juice in the morning. The turbo charger can fill it up in the morning before work if needed.

I would like to be able to really use the phone on a Saturday or Sunday by playing games, checking email, browse the internet, watch a Netflix film, use gps and take pictures on one charge. I don't have the luxury of being near a power outlet at all times on the weekend. 20 hours of continuous use should be the norm. Every time a manufacturer puts a bigger battery in a phone they add a feature that will drain the battery.
