G+_Marlon Thompson
Dare I say HTC is back,. This indeed looks promising, the phone looks great, some smart design choices were made in both hardware and software. I even see a competitive edge in including support for apple's airplay, which will be used to pull in some iphone users but I fear that is not enough. Marketing has to be spot on for this to make an impact but to be honest I really hope that HTC is able to sell at least 6-10 million of these phones. Edit: Just saw pre-orders are up and $699 unlocked for 32gb gets a thumbs up from me. maybe you should have gone with this Ron Richards Originally shared by Marques Brownlee New video is live - HTC 10 Impressions
G+_Pradyumn Vij
I'm cautiously optimistic, I have to upgrade this year, I want a ~5" device with the specs of a Nexus 6P or higher which lands me with a Samsung Galaxy, however I'm not a fan of their stock apps. HTC working with Google is promising for the software of the device.
G+_Marlon Thompson
Pradyumn Vij and you are the type of customer who HTC is looking for, its going to be hard for them but hey that have to take the risk.
G+_Paul Werner
Yeah I was thinking Ron would have buyers remorse for the Robin after this was announced. Can't wait to hear what he has to say after having it for a while though. He's been Nexus everything for a while now. Something tells me that he didn't stick with the stock launcher, even after he said he was OK with all the shortcuts getting plastered on his home screens
G+_Saifee Akil
A price tag of $699 will not be competitive enough. For a company that is on its last breath a good strategy would have been to price this under the Samsung s7 to draw a wider clientele. Currently I believe average users are still going to flock to the s7 with its bigger brand power.
G+_Pradyumn Vij
Saifee Akil price is not a competition point for flagship phones, if you can pay for a flagship upfront you're going to get the phone with the features you want and not be swayed by a price difference. G+_Saifee Akil
Pradyumn Vij price is always a point. And now with many smartphones available at considerably lower prices it becomes difficult to justify higher prices. Samsung still just barely gets away with higher prices because they spend a lot on brand awareness but for HTC to regain their customer base they need to beat in price. When comparing apples to apples price becomes the next point of differentiation.
G+_Pradyumn Vij
Saifee Akil If you read my comment I referred to flagship phones, you are expecting to pay within a certain range. My comment was also in reference to people who have some knowledge of devices and company awareness. Your perspective seems to be from a layman who is barely aware that a Samsung phone runs Android. G+_Saifee Akil
Pradyumn Vij? you are right it is. I wrote my comment from the perspective of my wife who doesn't care about android but wants a good phone with a price to beat. And my debate with you was HTC has a good phone but a little under pricing would help them at this stage gaining average people like my wife (not users like u and me - I am an all Nexus user anyway)?
