G+_jan s
Hi there, i've been trying to install and use skydrive application in my starter edition of windows 7 in guest login. Though this software is getting installed, it doesnt work, and im unable to get the same kind of flexibility i get with dropbox application which enables automatic syncing of files in folders. I tried to search in websites for possible solutions, but unable to get my problem fixed. Im very much into windows ecosystem, however im unable to use full potential of skydrive in my windows 7 OS. Please advice on how i can fix this problem.
G+_Dan Phillips
What errors do you get?
G+_jan s
It says Skydrive did not install properly when i try to manually open the installed application (ideally i want this skydrive application to automatically startup when i login to windows, just like dropbox etc), however i downloaded this application from microsoft.com website only. G+_Dwight E Howell
As Ruben noted this thing should not install unless you are logged on as administrator.
G+_jan s
Im used to logging into guest 99% of my time to avoid unnecessary problems due to viruses and malwares(which might misuse administrative rights) and only when i plan to install windows updates i login as administrator. Does this mean that Skydrive was planned to be working properly only in administrator's login ? This seems to be ridiculous requirement from skydrive team. is this real? G+_Dan Phillips
Install permissions almost always require Admin access in Windows 7. I don't use Skydrive but once everything is installed you shouldn't be asked to install it anymore. If you are are, you may need to add an exception in the Windows Security settings. G+_jan s
In guest login i try to 'run as administrator' and do provide admin password. however after installation i face problems. However in administrator login, when i install i dont face any problems.. unfortunately as i mentioned i dont login to administrator most of the times and use only 'guest' login. G+_Todd W
My suggestion is to create a normal user account, non admin, see if it installs and works correctly and then use that account when you want to use skydrive. If it doesn't work, delete the account and call it a day. If it does work, then use that account only when you want to use skydrive, and the guest account for your other tasks. Just a thought. And please do remember that Win7 starter edition has quite a few restrictions versus "higher versions" of Win7.?
