G+_Graham Forte
Originally shared by Joseph Cappellino Amazon.com FireTV Comparison So, they did a good job comparing against the Roku, Apple TV and Chromecast. But, they missed the competitor that really makes the difference, Google TV. You can get the Sony or VIZIO . for around $100, and it can do almost everything the FireTV can do (and then some, like HDMI-PassThru). For me personally, my money is better spent on a Google TV and a Chromecast. More and more content companies are supporting iOS and Android (with ease of Chromecast support). So, what doesn't come native to Google TV, will surely come to the Chromecast.
G+_Mark Scholes
Google TV is only that cheap because it's dead. The game part is interesting, is this the first mass market android app running TV box?
G+_Jim Jackson (J3xtr)
Chromecast launched with Pandora, there are games, and every phone or tablet is a remote. Amazon instant isn't available because Amazon chooses not to make it available.
G+_Joseph Cappellino
Mark Scholes - Google TV was "mass market", just not marketed well. My mother and in-laws use it all the time. Jim Jackson - I understand that Amazon chooses not to do it, I just don't understand the logic behind not doing so.
G+_Jim Jackson (J3xtr)
Joseph Cappellino I whole heartedly agree. I want to give them money but they only want to take it under specific circumstances. Dumb business move, I think.
G+_Robert Marshall
Perhaps, perhaps not. Let's see if they release a Chromecast app six months from now after they have milked the Fire TV device for what its worth. What I found interesting was that they don't have an HBO Go app, yet they have one for Showtime . Figure that one out.
