G+_Robert T
I've had trouble for several weeks with my Samsung GSII (AT&T, i777) not charging via USB. I ordered a new USB PCB for it and have (very carefully) installed it in my phone. I'm now able to charge again, but I can't keep access to AT&T. It briefly has access when I first boot it, then it loses it. From time to time, I'll get the smallest bar long enough for a SMS to get through. I've reopened it several times and made certain that the antenna connector (and all others) is firmly in place. I'm beginning to wonder if AT&T may be somehow blocking me now. I notice that the phone can no longer find its serial number, so I wonder if that's where the problem lies, not with the actual connections. This could explain why I have the connection briefly, but then lose it and why I get a grey triangle when my SIM is in, but a black when it's not. Does anyone have any experience with repairing an i777 and some suggestions for what else I can try? I'm backing up to do a factory reset, but I'm not holding much hope that it'll make the difference. Thanks to anyone who has a suggestion.
G+_Michael Conrad
I know it's obvious, but have you called your provider to do a network reset or figure out what the issue could be? You could also try going in and out of airplane mode.
G+_Lucas Nichols
What confuses me is that it doesn't show your imei number. Which would mean to me that u got issues outside of my ability. Lol. Seriously though all I got is the prl update and profile update suggestions. Other than that call customer service from another phone and have them help u, take it in for service, or start an insurance or warranty claim. But the warranty claim may be out since you have opened up your phone yourself already. And of course there is always xda or Google for people who may have better answers. But this sounds like a tough one to me.
G+_Jeff Larkin
Michael Conrad I've not called the provider yet, although I've thought about it. I've held off because I don't want to explain to them that my phone lost its serial number because I replaced a part. =) Lucas Nichols It does know its IMEI, I just blacked it out. =)
G+_Jeff Larkin
I'm now running stock and it's still jumping around from full bars of "4G" to nothing or a bar of edge. Next step will be calling the carrier and pretending I had it fixed by Samsung and ask if the network may be recording an error for me or something else that might give me useful information. Given my past interactions with them, I expect they'll give up after rebooting doesn't work.
G+_Jeff Larkin
Well, I think it may be an issue with the replacement board. I've read a few other people who've had the same issue, but were able to get it working either via another replacement board or by bending a few contact pins on the board. I've tried bending the pins, no luck, but when I put the original back in the signal is back to normal. I guess I'll have to contact the person I bought this board from, it may be defective. I guess having to charge the battery out of the phone is better than a phone that can't connect. =)
