G+_Vincent Panico
Have another question from everything I tried when I go to install win 7 (Where do you want to install windows?) their is no HD listed and the bottom it says ( No drives were found. Click Load Drivers to provide a mass storage driver for installation.) and my HD shows up in bios, so my HD is dead?
G+_Aaron Freeman
This can be a mother board driver issue. Download those or contact motherboard vendor. What size is hard drive? Or try these steps http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927520 I run a lot of dual boot systems.. Maybe fun project for you. http://lifehacker.com/5403100/dual-boot-windows-7-and-ubuntu-in-perfect-harmony The gparted step may help with issue you are having. G+_Joe Phelps
Download a hard drive test disk image from the hard disk manufacturer's web site. I have used the one from Hitachi for many years.

G+_Joe Phelps
Vincent Panico Yep. It'll create a bootable CD so you can test the hard dive. Try this one: http://www.seagate.com/support/downloads/item/seatools-dos-master/

G+_Joe Phelps
I assume you checked all the cables to make sure everything's plugged in good? If so, and it wont boot from a CD or hard drive, then it sounds like there is a motherboard issue.
G+_Vincent Panico
ok what would be wrong with the motherboard? b/c it works
G+_Taylor Graham
If it boots the windows CD fine, but not that seagate cd, then i assume its just an issue with the seagate disc. what storage controller is the laptop using? onboard? sometimes you have to install the drivers to get windows to see the drive, so try that (using the "click to install drivers" option). The only time ive had a "no drives found" message during windows installation is when i needed to load drivers.
G+_Vincent Panico
its not a laptop its a desktop I cant even get the HD to reformat.
G+_Taylor Graham
Try using a Linux boot utility like gparted. If all else fails, pull the drive, put it in an enclosure, and connect it to another machine to check it out.
