G+_Nick Whitworth
I've built an Arduino DMX receiver before. I controlled a bunch of LEDs for a project a friend and I did. It's pretty easy to bitbang DMX in and out of a PC using an FTDI cable and a MAX485 chip. From a quick glance at the PCB, it looks like that is what this is doing. Also, 3 pin? Come on people. ;P
G+_Ben Reese
Nick Whitworth? very cool. I think Arduino would be about as good as a RPi for this application. It surprises me that there aren't more Arduino + DMX projects already out there. Seems like the Pi would be a good platform for a DMX controller. G+_Travis Hershberger
Ben Reese You can stop giving me ideas on how Pis and Arduinos can work together. Wonder what type of a lighting setup you could create? I've seen some crazy lighting equipment in my day, and I bet either type of board would make the controller for the true crazy light/light effects much simpler. (Think 8 arms with multiple rotating mirrors in each arm, disco ball type base below that, and finally rotating spots on the lowest bit. Oh yeah, and the arm lights and spots can all change color.)
