G+_Jonathan Brown (Chronic
Hey guys! I'm wanting to expand my computer and mobile device repair for friends and family into a more professional business and wanted to know if anyone can recommend tools or a tool kit for my bench and one for my in-home jobs. I have an assortment of tools now but most are cheap and I need something that looks more professional and will last longer than a few uses. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer! G+_Eddie Foy
iFix it are ok tools. A bit over priced, not the best, but not junk either. For computer repair they aren't going to see tough use. I like Wiha, x-celite, Bondhus for the smaller tools. Craftsman of course is in the mix (great return policy) Snap-on is WAY over priced for 'puter repair. The house brands @ Lowes/Home Cheapo are so-so in quality. High quality screwdrivers are a must. I really don't like the interchangeable bit style. The barrels/shafts are too thick to reach places quite often. When using Philips, always insert and give a little wiggle. If there is slop, next size up or risk stripping the head. There are 2 type of Philips standard and Japanese. (Jap can be identified by a dot on the head) theses heads have a more square cut to them, its a much better design. If its a dual head flat/philips (actually tri, you can use Robertson bits (square) on them) go for Philips. In a pinch Allen keys (usually standard) can work on torx fasteners if not too tight
