I doubt it has anything to do with the content. For HDCP encrypted HDMI sources, the display and the source (Roku) have to continuously negotiate what's called HDMI key. This negotiation is to ensure to the Roku that you have not plugged it into a recorder to record copy protected content. If any of the negotiations fail for any reason or at any time, the source will "HDCP Blank" the output which is what you have displayed on your TV. If this happens often, I would try swapping HDMI cables and bypassing any device between the Roku and display to see what may be causing a problem. Unfortunately, sometimes a source and display just won't play nice together, but hopefully it's something else in between.

As Bill Crowe said, might want to try a different HDMI cable (if this isn't the stick) or simply unplug the HDMI and plug it back in. Often when you plug it back in it renegotiates the HDCP and works again. No experience on Roku, but other HDMI devices I've used have had this issue and that worked for them.

Happens about once a month to me. I found that simply going to settings, select the video type (I am not sure of the term, I'm not at my Roku), and set it to something else, like 720P. Then switch back to 1080P. Now go to the video you want to watch and all should be well. I get the feeling that the TV and Roku are out of sync.

The only time I ever have to reboot my Roku is when I have been watching hours worth of content and the thing either is overheating or has a memory leak. It will stop responding to key presses or will take a very long time. Even just hitting the Pause button can take forever to react.
