G+_Stephen Vermilyea
WARNING. My friend ordered LED rings from the KH304 show notes link and received a 68mm dia ring. The picture on that link is correct but the description is for the bigger diameter which is what he got. Make sure what you order is 45mm outside diameter. G+_Shooter_FPV (Shooter_FP
Why did you have to drill extra holes? The rings you show seem to be ok. I'll probably order them today.
G+_Stephen Vermilyea
The rings I got have through hole solder joints. 2 for VCC, 2 for GND and 1 for Din and 1 for Dout, but they are located 120 degrees apart. I had to drill holes in the LED ring holder where those solder joints were located and provide extra length wire to those locations. (as shown in the picture I posted above.) G+_Shooter_FPV (Shooter_FP
That's the one Adagruit sells... I checked their site earlier. Ordered the ones from the Amazon link I posted. I can see how those ones have the holes, and they are so spread out. I hope the Amazon ones are ok. And now I'll have to find a build to use the big rings... lol
G+_Shooter_FPV (Shooter_FP
Stephen Vermilyea So I'm finally going to start my goggles project, and I got the exact same LED rings... not sure why the design changed... was it a pain to drill out the holes? did it affect the overall design/build? G+_Stephen Vermilyea
I printed all the parts as Padre designed them. I had to dremel the inside diameter of the LED rings to get them to fit the LED ring holder. I don't recommend that(it was a pain). If i would have had the time, I would have modified and printed the holder to fit the ring. To get the holes in the holder, I installed and lined up the data in and out holes in ring with the opening in the holder. Then I used a sewing pin to transfer the other holes to the holder and drilled them out a little bigger than the wire size. Have fun building. I would love to see your goggles when your done.
