G+_Jeff Gros
I just wanted to mentioned to my fellow 3D printing enthusiasts that Prusa recently came out with the Prusa i3 MK3. I heard about it from Make Magazine. Why didn't Prusa send me an advertisement!?! https://shop.prusa3d.com/en/3d-printers/180-original-prusa-i3-mk3-kit.html They added a lot of new features. Prusa is really pushing their technology. 24V drive board with microstepping to get faster prints and quieter operation. A filament sensor, a better extruder assembly. etc, etc. Click the link for a far more comprehensive list of features, videos and reviews. Best of all, the PEI sheet is magnetic. I recently went back to school, so my plans to build a temperature chamber has gone back burner. However, I'm envisioning that the detachable build plate is going to make things MUCH easier with the machine in an enclosure. I was waiting for my voucher to upgrade from MK2S to MK2.5 (missing better frame and 24V control board). After waiting like a week, I decided to just log in and see if my discount would take effect. It did, which would have cut the upgrade price from $200 to $150. Then I saw that Prusa caved into pressure and made a MK2S to Mk3 upgrade kit. They were resisting because you're not that far off from just building an entirely new kit due to the amount of differences. I hit the preorder button. I didn't save any money buying a MK2 and then getting upgrading to a MK3 after the fact, but at least I did get to use it a year. I'll have to get an upgrade for my multimaterial kit as well (which they say is just 4 filament sensors). My MM kit is still in the box because I wanted to print replacement parts before tinkering with my printer to install the kit. This meant getting ABS working, which meant the temperature chamber.... What a ride! https://shop.prusa3d.com/en/3d-printers/180-original-prusa-i3-mk3-kit.html
