G+_Marcus Lester
I shattered my glass on my S3. I replaced the glass this past weekend but cut A flex cable that controls the back and menu buttons. Fixing glass that is shattered is much more difficult because it doesn't lift in one piece . I have to root my phone and install some virtual buttons. G+_Michael Kickingbear
Marcus, Yeah the glass is tricky. With iPhone, the glass IS the display. So it is kinda bad if it shatters. I'm not sure if that is the case with galaxy s phones. On the iPhone, we were trained to remove the set screws at the bottom of the phone, and set it into a vice type of device to keep the frame of the phone steady. The device has a large suction cup in the center that is applied to the screen. You would then pop the display out of the iPhone at a slight angle. Not sure if a similar process could be used with a galaxy s phone. Based on your description, it soundalike the glass is a separate piece from the actual display. I used package tape on shattered iPhone displays to create a new surface for the suction cup to grab onto. Maybe that would work for the galaxy phone? The ribbon cables on ANY of these phones are a pain in the butt. If the get cut, your almost assured of a display replacement. Good luck with your project!
