So I've been one of the few (maybe not so few?) hanging on to the thought that I need to have removable storage in my phone. Today for the second time I had a memory card die. I went to play a podcast at lunch and my phone just couldn't access the card. I've tried repairing the card with my PC with no luck. At this point I'm wondering why I've been holding on to removable memory for so long. I've never had an issue with internal memory, I've got hundreds of GBs of cloud storage and unlimited data (grandfathered Verizon plan). I think I'm all done with memory cards.

I have a phone without an SD slot and a tablet with SD.  Honestly, I never notice a difference between the two in reality.  I never remove the SD card from the tablet, it's just providing 64gig of storage.  If it fills, I don't remove it I just start deleting.  I don't even think about upgrading to a larger card.

It's odd how accepting I am of my storage ceiling.  I will also say, I haven't had a card die since 2010.  Usually depends on your phone and the apps using it, as much as the card.

PINK ERASER I have 'repaired' much tech by simply cleaning the contacts with a pink eraser, the one typically on pencils. Reason? Oxidation will inevitably form over time degrading the conductive paths. Please, at least give it a try. It is generally the very best first thing to try and it is quite effective. Warning DO NOT USE GREY INK ERASERS.
