G+_T Burns
What a flight! Great clear day with some wind but not too much. Decided to see if my stick scaling tweaking worked. Managed a couple of flips, realized that the stick scaling still wasn't what I needed it to be but kept flying anyway. About 4 minutes into the flight, I attempted one more flip using the technique I saw on youtube where you add thrust and flick the right stick. Stick scaling is essential!!! It only did half the flip and I didn't have time to fix the issue. I tried and then flipped the autolevel to see if it would save it, but alas #CFiT ! Outcome: Two broken arms, an afroESC wire yanked loose, and a bent battery. I was lucky the battery didnt' burst. The auto-level attempted to pull up out of the dive and the front (where the battery was located for balance) slammed into the ground. So, what's the proper way to dispose of a lithium battery in the State of Tennessee?
G+_T Burns
Um, is it safe to plug that battery into a charger (see last pic)
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
That'll buff right out!
G+_T Burns
Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ I was thinking about upgrading motors eventually and this might be a good opportunity to replace the ESCs. Will there be a problem if I use 20A ESCs in a setup that only needs <12A?
G+_T Burns
Wayne Hobbins That's what zip-ties are for. Besides, now I can angle the arms for better angles of attack.
G+_Dan Salter
Sounds like you and I had similar flight days today T Raburn ! Consider trying 6030 2 blade props when you get her back in the air again. Much better than the 5030's.
G+_T Burns
I had 5040s on it, but I have been thinking about what larger blades would do for performance.
G+_Dan Salter
I've found less noise (lower rotational speed) , greater stability and higher top speed. Stick scaling is needed to account for a small loss in agility.
