G+_T Burns
Wow, what a horrible experience!! I just lost my quad this afternoon in a public park. After flying gently around for about 5 minutes with new 6" props and a new CF frame, I got a little more aggressive but still well within my abilities of control and well within eyesight (i.e. less than 100m out and 100ft height). In the middle of a maneuver to bring the quad back to myself, the quad went full throttle and leveled out. I immediately chopped the sticks (no one underneath and plenty of room to recover before it would impact the ground) I got no response and the quad continued to climb. In about 10 seconds it climbed through the low cloud cover and out of sight. My first thought was, "Oh crap, what if this thing falls on someone's head!" I kept a watchful eye out for 30 minutes, talked to one of the park Rangers about what happened and we both watched for any sign of the quad for awhile. Nothing. Anyone have any ideas on why I lost TX/RX connection? I'm definitely going to get a FC with fail-safes for the next build. I'm trying to do some calculations to figure out exactly how high this thing probably went and where it might have ended up with wind drift etc. It had the 2208-2300kv RTF motors, 6x4.5 propellers, 2200Mah battery and AUW was around 650g. G+_610GARAGE
Sorry to hear that. It sounds like the receiver lost communication with the remote and went into failsafe, but throttle failsafe was set to stick center instead of stick down. But this is only a guess. Was the remote system meant for aircraft? Were you using left stick for throttle?
G+_T Burns
Yeah, it was a Flip 1.5 FC, I was using the FlySky T6 TX with left stick throttle.

G+_T Burns
Serious nightmare! Thankfully there's no news stories of injuries or damage from a quad falling out of the sky on someone's head (or starting a fire somewhere from the battery bursting into flames). G+_Eddie Hughes
Ouch! That's the worst feeling! Does the Flysky have an error rate to help track it down? Although, it's probably to late now. I bought the turngy i6 and the transmitter had an error rate built in, which told me in percentage how much error there was with the receiver. The closer I was to the receiver the less error. That helped me locate my 450 quad 2 times, the third time I lost it the battery came unplugged and my neighbor found it 4 days later.
G+_Travis Hershberger
Wayne Hobbins I have a feeling a failsafe came pre-configured. It was just a horrible configuration option for the type of craft!
G+_610GARAGE
I agree with Travis Hershberger . Most, if not all remotes should have a failsafe. Maybe a better lesson to learn here is to always check your failsafe to make sure that they fail safe. ;)
G+_Lance Haeden
Hijacked perhaps? Just kidding... Sorry for your loss.
