G+_Jan Scott
Half way through - so engrossed didn't notice my train had been halted at a station whilst we waited for the police following an assault - yes I was THAT oblivious. Really great conversation between 4 people who were listening to each other and responding - just the way it should be. GREAT episode. Great work by all four of you. Thank you so much. G+_Vance McAlister
Aaron Newcomb and Jason Howell when you guys talk about the Nexus Player, I can understand why you complain about the device (although I have had very few problems with mine), if the hardware gives you issues, you are right to call it out. But at the same time it would nice if you acknowledged that the UI itself is pretty awesome. Comparing it to a Chromecast is apples and oranges, of course, since Android TV is for the on-screen UI experience and its true competitors, Roku and FireTV, are miles behind in UI. G+_Jason Howell (raygun01)
Vance McAlister agree that they are different. I do recall us saying that we really like the ATV ui. Am I mistaken? Regardless, though they are different, they are also similar in ways as well so its natural to want to compare them and since they both tackle a similar task (internet content on a tv) its also normal to want to pick a favorite between the two, no? G+_Vance McAlister
Jason Howell The comparison with the Chromecast is fine if you don't really have a preference for an on-screen UI (and I am with you, fine with both styles). Those who buy the Nexus Player are, I suspect, those who like that on-screen experience, so the question becomes which device provides the best experience for those that want that. My position is basically this: if you really have no preference for an on-screen UI, then Chromecast will likely give you the most trouble-free experience. If you DO want an on-screen UI, then your primary choices are between the Nexus Player, the Roku, the Fire TV and the AppleTV.
