G+_T Burns
Here's a question for all you fellow Quad crashers out there: how do you clean the mud out of your motors when you have an inverted controlled flight into terrain? I'm running the RTF Quads 2208-2300s.
G+_Taylor Graham
compressed air worked pretty well for me. maybe some water to loosen the dirt if you really filled them with mud.
G+_610GARAGE
When I crashed mine into the farmer's field, I removed the battery and hosed it out, then let it sit in the sun for a few hours and then let it sit and dry for a day or two. Works, but you really shouldn't get the motors wet. But I didn't notice any ill effects. You would also have to remove any gps units that have a battery installed. G+_Travis Hershberger
Taylor Graham The compressed air is the first thing to try. When it's worse than that I like to use 50% rubbing alcohol and 50% distilled water. Electronics are much happier after a bath in rubbing alcohol when they've gotten soaked. G+_Taylor Graham
Brushless motors could care less whether or not there is water in them. Both rubbing alcohol and water will flush the oil/grease out of the bearings, which is the real danger of washing out a motor. I did use alcohol myself as well too though. If they're really full of mud, it is easy to take them apart and lubricate the bearings.
