G+_Elisha Wang
I could really use some help with the know-it-all. I'm involved it the it support for the student complex I live in. We use OpenDNS to prevent the students from accessing certain sites and clog up all the bandwidth. The complex has multiple modem all linked up through one network running on fibre. That's our setting. My question is: what do we do if our modems are infected with malwares?
G+_Rigs 83
If the manufacturer doesn't have a patch I'd reset them. I hoped you saved the configurations for the modems, routers and switches
G+_Rob Saw
You generally don't have much control over the modem beyond some basic config. I would disable any wan admin functionality, but beyond that I can't think of much else... Open dns is great but has a fairly big flaw in that any student with admin rights can just set their own name servers. Gotta hope they don't work that out because filtering is an expensive pain!
