Episode 291 Ron said everyone he knows that has a Shield Tablet loves and has had no problems. Welllllll, lemme be thei first, I guess? If I do not aggressively clear out the Multitasking list, the Shield Tablet is basically unusable. I had to uninstall the Facebook and Twitter apps because I just can't spare the RAM to run them. 2gb of RAM is a joke and the fact that they didn't address that with the K1 refresh is astonishing. I love the stylus but had to disable the quick menu because the whole tablet would freeze up for 2 or 3 seconds any time I pulled the stylus out. Don't get me wrong, from a fresh boot it is really smooth and snappy but if I lock the screen with an app open, it often takes a full minute to finally get to a point where I can clear out the multitasking list and actually do anything. It's probably still the best android tablet I've owned (OG Kindle Fire, Nexus 7, Acer A700 and Tegra Note being the others), but it has never delivered the performance and smoothness that I get out of my wife's 2nd gen Ipad Mini which I didn't pay that much more for.

The best thing I can say is that Nvidia has been great about updates and, like I said, it's fantastic when it works. ?

Strange, I have the OG SHIELD Tablet & none of the issues you're describing here. I was more surprised that during the tablet talk they didn't mention that iPad also has lots of not tablet optimized apps as well. As a whole though the tablet market is dwindling so the Chromebook recommendation does seem like the best route currently
