Joe Morrison????? that's a good point. Gender can skew things. I specifically limited the scope of my post because I do like her ideas and don't take issue with her doing more talking than other at times. That's also why I backed up what I fealt with something specific. Here is a thought experiment, if a male host repeatedly cut off female hosts what would we think?? I would feel the same maybe stronger. So I am skeptical of the role gender plays in my feelings here.

Ryan McCarty  what is the ideal guest, I am really curious and before you answer here is  short bio, she started out as a video game developer, working for companies such as EA, lucasArts and Activision. She turned her tech blog into the job which led to her being hired as a senior editor at engadget. She has appeared on numerous podcasts and was a regular on the Engadget podcast. She now does freelance work and consulting services in the area of evangelism. (yep she sure can evangelize) . She has interviewed many major tech leaders including Steven Elop

Sometimes when shows are relatively new, or guests are relatively new, there are moments when a person will dominate the conversation in order to talk about some big grand idea or belief they've been working out in their head. It can take time for things to settle in and become more conversational about the week-to-week news. A good case in point here was probably the first episode of The Social Hour with Sarah Lane and Amber Mac. I remember Sarah, who was the new host taking over for Leo, totally dominating the conversation. (Amber had some connection issues that might have been a factor.) The talk was so one-sided it really put me off and I didn't watch again for a few weeks, but when I returned I thought the conversations between Sarah and Amber were as good as between any two hosts on TWiT.

This is getting depressing, i`m out. I will pop back in if I get the definition of the ideal guest and if someone can tell me if all the other guests have had the right chemistry. Also sensing some unspoken shit but its too early for that. Yo Jason Howell  its your show buddy do what you got to do since I get it for free. Myriam Joire  glad to see your going to be around, Everybody else PEACE!!!

Marlon Thompson? her bio is great. Her ideas are great. We are talking about delivery of those ideas in a group setting. That is a specific skill. And as others have said, there is the issue of chemistry. Jeff Jarvis? gets ranty and sometimes drowns others out, but Leo Laporte? and Gina Trapani? would reel him back in stick up for one another if Jeff Jarvis? got too pushy. It was beautiful synergy.

I think it's simply a matter of the team 'gelling' over time, although I understand a permanent replacement for Gina hasn't been selected. Jason & Ron have been together for years, so there's a natural flow between them.

You can see each individual's style. Mike Elgan does a great job with TnT because of the short duration of the show, but I notice he has the same 'cut to the chase' style when he hosts a longer show, like TWiG. When he's a co-host on TWiG, it's not so apparent and it's more of a discussion, which I enjoy as it's more fitting with more time available.

Edit: I also know Leo is very attentive to diversity on his shows, which is why I believe (based on comments during the shows) they're looking for a female to replace Gina. Myriam Joire brings diversity and additional knowledge to the show.

Hey all. Just to weigh in a bit here. Myriam Joire? is on every other week right now. We are exploring her as an option, and part of this is absolutely about finding the rhythm of the show, learning how she works, and her learning how we work. Hopefully, over a short period of time, we can all settle into a comfortable and familiar place with the tone of the discussions on the show. That will take accommodations from all sides, and this is almost always the case when a new person becomes a part of an established show. If it doesn't work out, hey we tried and it's not the end of the world. She brings a wealth of knowledge and yes, opinion, and I do realize that she can be a bit polarizing. Regardless, she's awesome when she's on (my opinion) and we will see how the show fares with more of her on the panel. Just being honest, here.

Just to throw some love Myriam Joire's way, I do really appreciate how much she invests of herself when reviewing non-flagship devices. Lots of people can get excited about reviewing the latest Nexus, but the Android world is full of interesting devices that people seem to have heard about, but not used. Myriam seems to be one of the few willing to go the extra mile to use those devices and really consider what it would be like to own and use them full-time. What other guest was going to come on TWiT shows with detailed reviews of the Yotaphone and Blackberry Classic?

I kept forwarding 30secs at a time and she just didn't shut up. And that bit of petulant rudeness was too much. The other two just gave up and just looked embarrassed. Learn to interact and stop bullying. It's tiresome when Dvorak does it, it's tiresome when Jarvis does it. And it's the same with Joire. AAA is turning into a monologue by a bully. Having a conversation means listening. Either she learns or the show will fail.

I agree with most of the comments here, Myriam is awesome, she bring so much insight and experience the table, she just needs to learn to work better in a group setting, to play well with others so to speak. If the gang can get that chemistry flowing, the show will be even more incredible. If not, just give her her own show and let her fly!

If she continues to hijack the conversations then she will only succeed in alienating herself from these circles, and that's no good for anyone.

Thanks for everyone's feedback. Here's the thing though. I grew up in France and (English) Canada. The polite Canadian part of me never really canceled out the arrogant French part of me. Yes, I can be super "nice" and take a back seat, but I also grew up learning to argue and debate, and to be opinionated.

I've been podcasting for 10 years now, first on my own podcast (tnkgrl Mobile), later as the co-host of the Engadget Mobile Podcast, and now again on my own podcast (ongoing) plus as a guest on many other shows (The Phones Show, Android Central, All About Android, TWiT -- to name a few).

In all these years, I've learned that viewers/listeners are always polarized about my style, but ultimately, most people really like having me on podcasts. I've also learned that as a woman in tech, if I don't speak up and I "behave", then noone takes me seriously. So no, I'm not going to change my style to make others happy! #nope

That being said, I think Jason Howell and Ron Richards are doing a phenomenal job with AAA and I'll follow their lead and adjust to what they believe is best for the show. And of course, they're welcome to interrupt me when I get carried away on rant -- it's only fair :)

Do not confuse passion with rudeness. If you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen -- there are plenty of "same old", boring shows out there where everyone agrees and nobody ever rocks the boat!

Marlon Thompson Fair question.  As I said originally, she brings a lot to the table, and whether or not I agree with everything she says, I readily admit that she presents an informed opinion.  My concern lies in how she presents in AAA.  The webcast has a very conversational style, with a lot of back an forth, and I feel like her long explanations disrupt that dynamic.
