G+_Joel G. J
Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ Bryan Burnett : Could be a great "parting shot" for a future episode of KH or a feature of Padre's Corner. http://sploid.gizmodo.com/video-turning-soda-cans-into-liquid-metal-looks-so-fun-1676919938?utm_campaign=socialflow_gizmodo_facebook&utm_source=gizmodo_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow http://sploid.gizmodo.com/video-turning-soda-cans-into-liquid-metal-looks-so-fun-1676919938?utm_campaign=socialflow_gizmodo_facebook&utm_source=gizmodo_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow
G+_Ben Reese
Looks like the next level of testing for the io safe NAS box.
G+_Fuzzy Wuzzy
Careful using a coffee can for that, I burned through the bottom of one once doing the same thing. Makes a mess.
G+_Travis Hershberger
I have a bunch of HDD platters sitting around I need to do the same thing to, or that was the idea anyway. I need to find the instructions for making a crucible first tho.
G+_Fuzzy Wuzzy
Travis Hershberger Just weld a plate to the bottom of a piece of 3" or 4" steel pipe. Works quite well, and it'll only cost a couple bucks to get it welded if you don't have a welder.
G+_Travis Hershberger
Doh! I'm mixing terms up, I need a forge! Fuzzy Wuzzy yeah, a crucible is easy when you have welding equipment!
G+_Stede Bonnett
I've been wanting to do this for years. I have pounds of stripped HDD frames (after salvaging magnets) that I've kept for this very purpose. It was even a project on Man Lab (Series two if you're looking). It's in the same category as continuous feed bio-char reactor and small jet-turbine though. A category my wife calls "No, you'll burn down the house".
