Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ: Hey Know-it-alls:

My university now requires us to run Cisco AnyConnect to use the school wifi. My laptop is running Windows 10 [upgrade from 8.1) and is having trouble connecting via AnyConnect. It connects to the URL, but the program can't connect to the policy server. I have contacted my IT department. According to IT, AnyConnect is "confused" and the program thinks the laptop still runs 8.1 but Windows 10 is not allowing it to run. I think I tried compatibility mode and still no luck. Any suggestions/solutions to fix this?

Oh. AnyConnect I still have nightmares. It kept taging software we need for our forensics classes as malware and would kick us off the network. In the end two of my professors and I did a security no no and added or on WiFi router for students in the forensics and security classes. Now that I think about it, I never retreaved it after graduation. It could still be there.

Joel J?? Talk to you university's IT department. They may of not updated the AnyConnect client software that is pushed out by their VPN device (usually an ASA) They may be able to give you the software package directly.

If not, their my be third party clients that you can use to connect. I know Cisco's client VPN has been reversed engineered ?to work on other OSes. Someone may have made one for Win10.

As far as I know, the Java is only for the installation. The client is Win32. That's if they aren't using the 'clientless' implementation. Since you heard of AnyConnect, I sounds they aren't using the clientless method. Also are you using a webpage to initially login? If do, what browser are you using. Chrome or Edge probably will not work.
