G+_Joel G. J
Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ Bryan Burnett I have a question about external Hard Drives. My current laptop has a standard rotating Hard Drive. In recent years, with the move toward multi-function touchscreen convertible laptops, traditional hard drives are being replaced with Solid State storage, which is significantly more expensive per GB and not as good when it comes to writing to storage multiple times. I already use cloud storage (free services), but I am considering future-proofing myself for the next gen by getting an external hard-drive. Should I get a pre-built model or can I get an external enclosure, buying a separate empty hard drive? ?
G+_Ben Reese
Yeah, my experience has been that pre-built external drives are cheaper than just sticking a drive in an enclosure. But, you can buy an enclosure for a 3.5" or a 2.5" drive and it will work just fine. Price per gig, SSDs are more expensive, but I'll never go back for my main drives! G+_Joel G. J
Are any of the pre-built external hard drivee able to have the drives inside be replaced?
G+_Ben Reese
I'm guessing you could replace the drives in most of them. Never tried myself though.
