G+_Joel G. J
Hey Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ Bryan Burnett Does anyone know which episode of Know How deals with how to set up a wifi extender. Trying to extend my network to a dead spot in my house.
G+_Ben Reese
I think there have been a few episodes on that. Do you have any equipment to extend it yet?
G+_Joel G. J
I got a small router that I have connected as an extender. Just not sure what do do since my laptop wifi gets confused when I use the internet near the extender.
G+_Ben Reese
Confused how so? Is the extending router acting as a repeater (connected to the main router wirelessly) or as an access point (connected to main router with a wire)? If it's extending off a wired connection, it's usually best to use different channels on the two wireless routers. If you want automatic switching, you'll also want the two to have the same SSID, encryption, and password. If any of these are different, the hand-off probably won't work right. Few other things to check out too, but that depends on how the routers are connected and what you've already tried.
G+_Joel G. J
It's connected wirelessly to the main router.
G+_Ben Reese
So could be 2 issues. You could be close enough to the main router that you computer is trying to connect to it, or it could just be enough signal to cause interference.
G+_Joel G. J
but should I put the extender in a lower signal portion or should I have both signals overlap. This is a TP-Link mini router.
