G+_Hector Sotomayor
I need help my twit family. I have a colleague that is going through some hell right now with his facebook account being phished from his email and they changed the password and secret questions. This Fan page has 130K followers and really could use some attention from everyone to get Facebook to act. They have emails FB and FB says nothing they can do and i dont think they got to the right department. Any Suggestions would be great.
G+_Dave Trautman
Has he phoned FB support yet? Talking to someone usually gets a better response than from e-mail. If there was a way to prove to them s/he is the rightful account holder and the changes were made on a specific day they might consider freezing it until they can decide what action to take. He has to be prepared and forceful to get through to the right decision-makers. If the person is a high-profile individual then they would have slightly more clout with FB then us ordinary folks. They are aware of these kinds of problems with fan accounts so they must have some procedure in place to challenge the scam people to prove who they are. The postings from before the change would be proof enough for them to question it and might allow your colleague to demonstrate their knowledge of and provide copies of pictures which were taken off the page before the change happened. The archives of FB would be checked and they might find your friend to be right. The perpetrators would not be able to access and historical stuff from the archives but the sys-admins would. Once FB is convinced something has been perpetrated they can restore the page to before the change and let your friend update the account info. Then they would unfreeze it. One-on-one and voice to voice is the only way to get through to them. If there is also a way to have followers/friends petition the complaint desk about the page it supports your colleague's contention that it's been taken over. Good luck. If they still stonewall, then call a good lawyer.
