G+_Joel G. J
Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ Bryan Burnett Best place to exchange laptop? Got a Dell laptop (Inspiron 5547) from Costco on Black Friday 2014. Initially satisfied until constant problems with build, durability, and decreased reliability of hardware (e.g. Screen not sleeping when lid closes) started to occur. Starting to regret this purchase. Is there any place to exchange this laptop in order to get the best return on investment. Current Specs: Price was $896.34 CPU: Intel® Core i7-4510U CPU @ 2.00GHz Storage: 1TB Hard Drive Screen Size & Resolution : 15.6 in (1366x768)[touchscreen] RAM: 8GB Wifi: b/g/n/ac Dual Band Also, any reccs on a better laptop. Looking into a Convertible with enough power for Computer Science degree (Visual Studio) with some networking . Nothing too expensive.
G+_Travis Hershberger
All that should be covered under warranty, have you contacted Dell?
G+_Travis Hershberger
Wayne Hobbins We're only 4 months away from Black Friday, unless we're talking 2014 or before.
G+_Akira Yamanita
Travis Hershberger He stated that it was Black Friday 2014. However, if purchased using an American Express card, the warranty will be doubled by American Express. The lack of this extension is an unfortunate side effect of Costco switching their exclusive partnership to Visa. If he paid in cash, he's out of luck. http://www.americanexpress.com/us/content/card-benefits/extended-warranty/faq.html
G+_Joel G. J
Reset it to 8.1 to check if it was a Win10 issue. LED indicators were not glowing. This all started happening after a repair (repairman came to my house) that occurred 2 months ago for replacing the hard drive. I'm starting to get ticked off by this machine and a lot of places are saying that this Inspiron (5547) has been having issues with build and software. G+_Dan Hockey
If you bought it at a store(not online) just take it back. Costco has their own two year warranty. I took an acer netbook back that lasted 18 months, returned with no problems. But I kept the box and ticket.
G+_Joel G. J
I thought it was 90 days?
G+_Akira Yamanita
The return period is 90 days. The warranty is two years for some items. (I didn't realize they did this regardless of the purchase method.) Contact Costco Concierge Services. www.costco.com/concierge.html
G+_Joel G. J
I'm sending it to be repaired by dell this week. I'm only pursuing an exchange If there are any more issues with the laptop.
G+_Joel G. J
Tom Krauska It's the sleep on lid close that does not work.
