G+_Joel G. J
Bryan Burnett Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ I want to access my cloud storage services (Box, Onedrive for Business) on my computer WITHOUT having to save the files to my hard drive. I have heard WebDAV is a popular option, but security researchers in articles I have read online seem to say that the WebDAV protocol is insecure. IS there a better option? Any corrections to my assumptions? Sidenote: I use SolidExplorer on my Android device to access multiple cloud storage services without having to install each service's app to my device. Not sure what protocol that app uses.
G+_Ben Reese
I'm interested in hearing what others say. I recently started using webdav at home and I'm curious about the security concerns others have to share. It seems fine since it's over SSL, but maybe not? www.networkworld.com/article/2202909/network-security/-webdav-is-bad---says-security-researcher.amp.html This article mentions there is an issue, but it seems more in the Microsoft implementation of webdav access instead of the protocol itself. I recently found out Windows supports it natively and it can be masked as a SMB/CIFS file share. I can see how this could be a problem if you think you're pulling from a shared folder on the internal network, but if you know what's going on it seems like it should be fine. networkworld.com - 'WebDaV is bad,' says security researcher
